Every summer within the frameworks of Alter Camp, more than 100 high school students come together to create art in several different fields. In the morning hours, with the assistance of various mentors – or so called “instructors” – the organisers of the camp, give an opportunity to the participants to experiment and grow in the fields of creative writing, visual arts, animation, drama, dance, film and photography, electronic music (software based), traditional music (instrument based) and puppetry workshops. This summer camp tries to create space for collaborations to happen between different workshops, for connections to be established between the arts and their creators. In the afternoons, students can partake in optional programs, where they can try themselves at different unknown art activities. The evenings are overtaken among others by concerts, parties, slam poetry performances, outdoor cinema, and stand-up comedy events. The camp ends with the AlterNation’s Stage, where the participants get the chance to present what they had been working on during the week. On that day, all activities such as different concerts, performances, exhibitions are organised by the participants themselves.

The personal relationships formed in the camp, tend to be permanent, many of the participants keep in touch with the friends they have made. It is also common that as a result of the camp, many join various civil organizations. Moreover, several of the Alter Camp participants ended up working together in creative communities, e.g., they founded a band or started their own art business. Professional relationships have been also established, where the participants often ask for each other’s help in various projects. The internal social media group of the camp provides an opportunity for them to share what kind of projects they are working on currently.

The Alter Camp’s community continuously supports their work and helps people to get to know themselves better and choose a career path that suits them best.
